Background Information about Anja Neudert

Introduction

The young Hamburg photographer Anja Neudert creates work that goes so far into abstraction – in its verticality and reduction of concrete city structures – that one is left with the impression of stronger emotionality in her pictures. In her city series she allows herself to be inspired by the innumerable colors and forms, as well as the repeated verticality of structures found in national and international metropolises. Emphasized verticality, the reduction of the object in character, and special motifs lead to a fascinating graphic play of color.

The enduring aspiration of a city is emphasized in a special way in her image graphics. We suddenly see the essential, the immanent dynamic of such a city: they want to be higher, broader, bigger... By clearly limiting to graphic, vertical movement, and the consciously set and uniformly maintained blurriness, Neudert achieves city photos resonating with all that is associated with the sounds and movements of urban life.
